Your genealogy links resource and the companion site for the book: The
Unofficial Guide™ to The Unofficial Guide to Online Genealogy gives readers information on how best to use the Web to simplify and broaden their family history research. This site is my labor-of-love companion site for the book and will provide you with the links featured in the book, arranged by chapter and by topic. This complements the book and, at the same time, stands alone as a Web resource. It also provides you with sample content from the book (on the GenealogyTips Tips pages) so that you can judge for yourself whether or not you'll benefit by adding The Unofficial Guide to Online Genealogy to your personal library. The only constant on the Web is change. Some people are of the opinion that a site should never go live until all content is in place. I, on the other hand, am of the opinion that a Web site is not -- nor ever will be -- a static "document." Therefore, I'm displaying my work thus far -- which is far from complete (if there ever can be such a thing). Plus, I'll do my best to keep you apprised of changes that occur between book revisions -- such as the new additions to the Category Index and the constant updates to Book Resource! You'll also get a chance to preview the table of contents and other great stuff. A sampling of some of the links on this site: Complete Table of Contents Preview Chapter Links -- No need to type in all the URLs in the book; I provide the links for you on these pages! Please bookmark this site and stop back often for updates.

Index for all Watch Out! Many operating systems use spare hard drive space for virtual memory, which allows the computer to store information temporarily on the hard drive until it's needed again later. If your hard drive is very full, the computer won't be able to store as much, so it will run more slowly.
The Everything Watch Out! Regardless of how altruistic your reasons for wanting to record your family history, don't forget that genealogy is also big business. Because of that, there are sometimes efforts to sabotage one service in the hopes of promoting another -- done in the guise of a "review." It's usually best if you maintain some healthy skepticism when you find negative or overly positive comments about a product or service online that don't provide a name for the person who wrote the "review."
